Situated near the rural township of Blenheim in the province of Marlborough, Timara Lodge is one of New Zealand's most luxurious and private Lodges.
All the rooms at Timara Lodge have picturesque views of either the magnificent gardens, stunning man-made lake, or the distant magical mountains. Choose from four charming rooms with king beds and en suite bathrooms, some with spa baths and private sitting rooms. The rooms feature fine art and antiques and the quality furnishings are modern and tasteful, instilling a sense of utter luxury, right down to the softest Italian linen.
Each bedroom is completely private and has its own en suite bathroom, as well as spectacular views of the grounds. All our air-conditioned bedrooms are fully serviced and non-smoking, the en suite bathrooms are all equipped with a hair dryer, shaver plug and heated towel rail. Bath towels, toiletries and additional towels are also provided.
Pre-dinner drinks, four course table d'hote dinner with wine, breakfast and Blenheim airport transfers.
The gardens include sweeping lawns, fully mature - some more than a century old - native and exotic trees, a five acre, man-made lake and an extensive and immaculately kept English style garden which abounds with native bird life.
Adjoining the gardens are 350 acres of Marlborough's finest Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
Some of New Zealand's leading wineries are in the neighbourhood and no stay at Timara Lodge would be complete without a tour of the surrounding vineyards to taste some of the upcoming and more mature varieties. Visitors to the region often leave with bottles of wine from the Lodge's own "Spy Valley" range and other internationally recognisable labels such as Cloudy Bay, Montana, Hunters and Wairau River. Many of the wineries also have excellent restaurants offering lunch menus that feature the very best local produce: salmon, venison, mussels, to name but a few.
Marlborough offers a wide range of activities and attractions for the discerning visitor. Sample some of the world's best trout fishing, visit the nearby 18-hole Fairhall Golf Course or cruise through the resplendent scenery of the Marlborough Sounds. There is also sea kayaking at Queen Charlotte Sound, white water rafting through some of the regions most stunning scenery, and whale watching at the fishing village of Kaikoura.
Alternatively, simply luxuriate in the garden under the mature native and exotic trees, enjoy the stunning views, stroll around the large man-made lake admiring the ducks and swans, play a leisurely game of tennis or swim in the private and hedged lap-pool.
